Ormond Beach Mayoral and
City Commission Races
Lori Gillooly, Commissioner, Zone 1, and Ed Kelley, Commissioner, Zone 3, have each announced their candidacy for mayor of Ormond Beach. The regular election is scheduled for Tuesday, November 2, 2010.
Candidates for City Commission are as follows:
Zone 1: Alan Burton, Greg Scull,
and James Stowers
Zone 2: Troy Kent (unopposed)
Zone 3: Rick Boehm, Mike Scudiero
Zone 4: Bill Partington (unopposed)

Ormond Beach Budget Calendar
The City of Ormond Beach has scheduled a number of important public meetings to adopt the FY 2010-11 budget and set millage rates for the coming year:
July 12 - Proposed budget submitted to City Commission
July 19 - Operating budget workshop with City Commission and Budget Advisory Board
July 20 - Set tentative millage rates at City Commission meeting
Sept 7 - First public hearing to adopt millage rate
Sept 21 - Second public hearing to adopt millage rate
City Commission Meetings
Have a question or concern about your city government? Tell your City Commission in person. Meetings start at 7:00p.m. on the first and third Tuesday of each month. Citizens may address elected officials by filling out a card with the city clerk just prior to the meeting. During time set aside for "Audience Remarks," the mayor will call your name, and you will have three minutes at the podium to ask your question or make your point.

But over time, access to the beach has become more difficult because of soft sand, development, and County control of approaches. When you drive north on U.S. Highway 1 past Nova Road, Tomoka River, Airport Road, Hawaiian Tropic, and just beyond Hull Point on the left-hand side of U.S.1 there is a large expanse of vacant land.
